Working With Families to Create an Effective Care Team
This webinar will help participants understand the impact of Alzheimer’s and related dementia disorders against the backdrop of family dynamics, and how that impacts decision-making. We’ll also discuss how our own culture and family background influences how effectively we work with individuals with dementia and their family members.
Moving someone into a long-term care setting is among the most difficult decisions a caregiver can make. Our presenter will take participants through the process families go through, from consideration of care to placement into a long-term care setting.
We’ll identify hidden barriers based on our own cultural and personal views of aging, placement, and family roles in caregiving. We’ll define who the majority of caregivers are. And we’ll identify and brainstorm ways to help families adjust to the move, as well as ways to actively engage families in the care team.
